Coming in 2012: 25th Annual Cemetery Walk at Bluff City CemeteryAn autumn tradition in the Fox Valley, the Society presents the Elgin Cemetery Walk on the fourth Sunday in September. Visitors to scenic Bluff City Cemetery are guided to gravesites of "former" residents, portrayed by actors in period costumes, who share something of their lives and times. Among them may be a founding pioneer or early doctor, a war hero or crafty politician, a teacher or banker. The cast changes each year. These vignettes provide a glimpse of Elgin's rich heritage through the lives of its citizens. 360 people attended the 2011 walk on Sept 25, 2011, and our 25th anniversary walk in 2012 promises to be even bigger! SponsorshipBusinesses, organizations, and individuals are encouraged to sponsor the 2012 Walk. Bluff City Cemetery is located at 945 Bluff City Boulevard, approximately 1/2 mile east of Liberty Street (Rt. 25). Bluff City Boulevard is 1 block south of U.S. 20 on Elgin's east side. This beautiful and historic cemetery is the final resting place of many prominent Elginites.
