General meetings: Third Sunday of January, March, May, and September, in the meeting room on the second floor of the Museum. Meetings are open to the public and feature a speaker or program. Annual meeting: The Society meets annually on the second Sunday in November. The meeting is held off-site from the Museum, and includes a buffet dinner and historical program. The next annual meeting will be Sunday, November 9, 2008 at the Centre of Elgin and will feature Simon Cordery speaking on the history of the railroad in Illinois. Silent Auction: A silent auction at the annual dinner meeting showcases Elgin-themed items and helps the Society raise operating funds.
