Elgin History Fair
Build a cobblestone house, make butter, and hop on an antique fire engine at the Elgin History Fair to be held at the Lord's Park Pavilion. The event promises hands-on activities for young and old alike. Parents join children in experiencing old-fashioned fun - grinding corn, stamping tin, pumping water, finger weaving, and many more. There are also opportunities to meet a blacksmith, spinner, cobbler, and others with a view of the past.
The Elgin Area Historical Society is proud to offer this free, fun, and educational event along with support from City of Elgin, the Elgin Public Museum, Fire Barn No. 5 Museum, and other community partners. Familiar characters from Elgin's past will be on hand to share their experiences of early Elgin and its highlights. The attractions are not limited to families with children - all ages are encouraged to enjoy the day!
While the event is free of charge, donations are greatly appreciated.
