The Jewish Experience in Elgin, Illinois

	On November 1, 2006, 'The Jewish Experience in Elgin’ opened at the Elgin Area Historical Society with a community reception.


	EVENTS - Jewish Community Center, Northbrook, IL This exhibit , which received a Mayor's Preservation Award, has moved to the Bernard Weinger Jewish Community Center in Northbrook through May 31, 2008. Special thanks to the Jewish Community Committee: Robin Seigle, Chairperson, and members Myra Becker, Carole Burstein, Kara Gauthier, Mary Hill, Sue Johnson, Liz Marston, Barb Razowsky, Marlene Shales, and Lisa Wohl.

	On October 10, 2007, the Elgin Area Historical Society and Elgin Community College welcomed Dr. Lee Shai Weissbach to the College. Dr. Weissbach is a Professor of History at the University of Louisville, and author of Jewish Life in Small-Town America: A History . He spoke to students and the general public on Jewish social and commercial life in small-town America in the 19th and early 20th centuries, drawing examples from "The Jewish Experience in Elgin."
